BCCC Scholars’ Meet n Greet  April 3, 2025

We would like to thank you for your generosity and support of both the Michael G. Fitzpatrick Foundation and our own Michael G. Fitzpatrick Scholars program at Bucks County Community College. Your support has allowed us to provide scholarships to many local Bucks County Students to attend college that may have otherwise been out of reach for many of them. Our Garden Party is the main fundraising event that we do on an annual basis and you have supported us in the past.  Please join us again this year with your support or attendance on June 7, 2026, and you will have the chance to meet and speak with the Fitzpatrick Foundation Board Members, Michael G. Fitzpatrick Scholars and members of the Fitzpatrick Family.

We recently had a Meet and Greet at BCCC and Chris Seifert, Director of Student Engagement and Leadership Development at Bucks County Community College. He is also filling the roll as the Student Success Coach for the Michael G. Fitzpatrick Scholars. Chris gave us an update of what our Michael G. Fitzpatrick Scholars have been doing with their scholarship opportunity both in the community as well as at BCCC.

An Update on the State of the Michael G. Fitzpatrick Scholars at BCCC  – April 2026

This is part of what Chris Seifert shared:  These students are serving their community while they are students here so that they will – like Michael – commit to lifelong service and to helping those in need long after they graduate from Bucks. Your generosity and commitment allow these students the opportunity to not only get a high quality, life-changing education from Bucks County Community College but also participate in service to make our community and world a more connected, selfless place. They give all of us great hope for the future because of who they are and the work they are doing. On behalf of our scholars, we cannot thank you enough for providing them with this opportunity.

The list of services to the community is long, but here is just a brief collection of some of the things our scholars have done to help our community:

*Tutoring 5th graders in Math at Titus Elementary School     *  Volunteering at Snipes Farm  * Monthly service at Morrisville Presbyterian Church Food Center organizing supplies, cleaning up, and setting up for distribution * Volunteering at Barclay Elementary School to help run activities  * Helping members of the Bucks County Community Church with yard and housework  * Helping with activities, cleaning, and putting away books at the Morrisville Free Library  * Park cleanups at the Delaware Canal State Park in northern Bucks County  *  Helping with an enormously successful clothing donation drive to benefit Worthwhile Thrift

One of the main requirements for the scholarship is, of course, academic excellence. And boy, do we have the right group for that! These scholars are excelling in the classroom as full-time students. I am proud to say that the Fitzpatrick Scholars as a group make the Dean’s List, with an incredible average GPA of 3.9! Many of them do this while working jobs outside of Bucks and staying engaged with the activities and events happening around the college. We are so proud of them for what they are achieving in the classroom as they work toward a bright future after they leave Bucks.

Change is constant in life, and we experienced a year of change and transition for the Fitzpatrick Scholarship – for all the right reasons. Five of our scholars from last year successfully completed their degrees last year and/or transferred to another four-year college or university. None of this would have been possible without the help and support that you provide, and the great work of the dedicated educators here at Bucks.

How lucky they are to have such dedicated, kind-hearted, generous supporters like you to help make their dreams come true. When we talk about the college community, you all play an integral role in helping us do what we do: ensure students’ success and help them achieve their goals while preparing for their next chapter in life – and beyond. Our scholars are continuing to leave a lasting imprint on this college and our community while being outstanding, kind individuals who are working tirelessly to improve themselves and others. I am certain you will be proud of them as representatives of Michael Fitzpatrick and this scholarship program, and I am so excited for all of you to get to know them as you will have a chance to meet them at this year’s Garden Party.
